Berwick Galway
In keeping with their Galway roots, the firm’s three founding partners, who all studied at NUI Galway, decided to name the firm after Edward Berwick who became the second President of NUI Galway, or Queens college as it was then know, in 1850.

Edward Berwick was a well-respected lawyer and was instrumental in ensuring the continuation of the University when he petitioned Queen Victoria to keep the royal charter in the face of fierce opposition from the Catholic and Protestant hierarchy who objected to the fact that the university was educating students of both religions in the same classes.
